The following are a regular part of our ministry
to our community and world
Motel Ministry – We provide monthly bags of groceries and a cooked meal to those staying temporarily in local motels. From time to time other meals are provided throughout the month.
Blessing Box – The church has a small food pantry in the front of its building providing opportunities for individuals or groups in the community to stock it with non-perishable food – and – for those in need to take what they need as well.
Truck Stop Ministry - Lay Chaplains from our congregation conduct weekly services at the local Petro Truck Stop.
Food Pantry – On a regular basis our people bring in non-perishable food items that help to supply the local food pantry currently at the local Catholic church. Some of our church members volunteer their time each week at the food pantry.
Yard Sale – First Baptist Church participates in the City-wide Yard Sale, usually held the first Saturday of June of each year. Proceeds from the sale of donated treasures are used for future mission efforts.
Mission Trips – Annually, members from our church family and outside our church family, engage in week-long mission trips outside the community. Past trips to West Virginia, Puerto Rico, and the Jersey Shore have been in response to recent floods and disasters.
Good Neighbor Guild – Our church helps fund this ecumenical ministry that provides vouchers for those in need for food and temporary lodging in local motels.
Support of American Baptist Missionaries – There are over 100 American Baptist missionaries and partners around the world. We support each of them in prayer and through several of our yearly offerings. We have identified and support a few of our missionaries directly.
Regular Offerings – On a regular basis we receive offerings that support ministries both locally and around the world.
Mission Education – We consider ourselves at First Baptist Church to be a missional congregation – continuously outward focused. Missional emphasis is experienced through our many discipleship efforts, in our worship, and through the proclaimed Word of God.
