~Who We Are & What We Believe~

The First Baptist Church of Bordentown, New Jersey is God’s church. We are a place where sinners gather to worship, learn, and serve together. We are welcoming and loving people who come from many different walks of life and traditions.

While closely affiliated with American Baptist Churches of New Jersey (, the Capital Association and American Baptist Churches USA (, we follow the Baptist tradition of local church autonomy being responsible for its own preaching, worship, teaching, finances, property and for outreach missions.
At First Baptist Church of Bordentown, we believe…

We believe we should love the Lord God with all our heart, mind and soul and love our neighbors as ourselves. We believe God is loving, righteous, just, all knowing, all powerful, forever, and ruler over everything.
We believe that God is three in one. God the Father, God the Son - Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit.

God’s Word

We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and without error as written in the original languages.

We believe Jesus was fully human and fully God.
We believe Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified dead and buried. On the third day He arose from the dead and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. He willingly laid His life down as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus will return in the clouds of heaven to rapture all believers in the Word of God, the living and the dead, and they will be with Jesus, forever.

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit convinces people they need a savior and will give them a new heart when they repent of their sins and trust in Jesus to save them.
We believe the Holy Spirit advocates for us, teaches us, prays for us, gives us gifts of ministry, and provides guidance for the spread of the gospel.

We believe it is the mission of the church to teach the Word of God, to spread the gospel to the whole world, to help the poor and the needy.

We believe Christians should cheerfully and regularly contribute to the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor and needy and the spread of the Gospel.

We believe baptism is the outer expression of the inner change that has taken place in our hearts.  When we are baptized, we are declaring to everyone that we are trusting in Jesus to save us from our sins.
